Provide a map of the process that pertains to the student (Initial Referral, evaluations, eligibility, Annual Reviews, Reevaluations Manifestation Determination review)
Create an awareness of parent and student rights in the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act ) and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (504 Plan)
Create awareness of the purpose and requirements for each component of the IEP ( Individualized Education Program) and BIP (Behavior Intervention Plan)
Inform of the evaluations required for suspected disabilities
Advocating
You will be supported
Review 504 plan, IEP (Individualized Education Program), BIP (Behavior Intervention Plan), PWN (Prior Written Notice)
Interpret evaluation reports
Analyze progress monitoring
Draft written request and letters
Attend school district meetings
Collaborate with the school district
Assist in the referral request and the eligibility determination process
Reviewing the proposed IEP (Draft)
Assist with effective communication with the school district and documentation of communication
Support for appropriate, effective accommodations and service delivery
Refer to an attorney if necessary
